The Stables

This project involved the masterplanning of an established rural property in Mangawhai, centred on the vision of an expansive, connected lifestyle while preserving the open, pastoral character of the site.

Working around an existing dwelling, the design integrates a broad programme spanning leisure and recreation, guest accommodation, equestrian facilities, productive gardens, children's play, and practical rural infrastructure.

Water is woven through the design, drawing on ancient associations of cleansing and renewal. It also creates a calming soundscape that grounds and quietens the spirit.

Despite the breadth of the brief, the overarching design intent remained consistent: to let the land breathe and allow each element to feel purposefully placed rather than accumulated.
