Kōtare

On a serene rural property in Mangawhai, where native kōtare keep watch, a relocated 1940s state house forms the heart of this thoughtful renovation and addition project.

Understanding the clients’ needs as a young family, we developed a masterplan guided by a long-term vision. One that allows the home to evolve in step with their growing family ensuring the house remains fully liveable and functional at every phase.

The project is carefully structured in three stages: first, the covered outdoor living area with pool and spa, creating an immediate and welcoming extension of usable space; second, the separate guest cottage, offering flexible accommodation for family and visitors; and finally, the private main bedroom wing with integrated garaging, completing the family’s long-term requirements.

Each stage builds seamlessly on the last, reflecting the clients’ current stage in life while planning confidently for future growth. Delivering a home that adapts gracefully without disruption.
